Our guide to Valle
TO EAT
Tahona
Amazing vibes, cocktails tacos at this Oaxacan-style al fresco spot at Cuatro Cuatras. There’s a mezcal tasting room perched in a beached wooden ship
Finca Altozano
The more casual sister-restaurant to Animalon, perched on a shady terrace overlooking the vineyard.
Primitvo
Also on our must-go list. Food is cooked over an open-flame under 300 year oak trees.
Oja
Good food, great cocktails, vibrant aesthetic, and… zebras! We shared a fabulous meal here with friends this past New Year’s.
Parador Mercedes
A casual breakfast & lunch spot known for chilequiles, pancakes and Ensenada-style ceviches
Lunario
A foodie-friend of ours from Mexico says that this is her #1 spot. There’s a rising-star female chef at the helm of this beautiful fine dining spot.
Animalon
Truth be told we have not eaten here but everyone we talk to says it’s their favorite and it's won many awards. Vibe is fine dining on a farm, with a seasonal tasting menu.
Deckmans
Has a green Michelin star, which awards culinary excellence with outstanding sustainability commitments. Haven’t been ourselves yet but it’s on our itinerary post-wedding.
.
Cocina Doña Esthela
THE breakfast spot but you need to get there early, like 8:30am.
TO DRINK
Clos de Tres Cantos
An architectural gem with beautiful views and delicious reds. Reservations recommended.
Vinecola 3 Mujeres
By appointment only, but this is a unique wine tasting experience in a wine cave. The winemaker is also a ceramist and her work is featured in the cave (this is on our list!)
Solar Fortún
A laid-back family-owned winery with beautiful views, slightly off the beaten path
Bar Bura
Perhaps the most beautiful view in all of Valle. Perched high high up on a hill and you overlook the ocean.
Bloodlust Wine Bar
The most instagrammable but still cool spot in the area. We love it here. Great cocktails, pizza, and often live music.
Bruma Vinecola
If you’re staying at Bruma, you need not go far for great wines. Head up to the Vinecola for a tasting of reds and whites, including some natural wines. Note: we will also all be drinking Bruma wines on Friday and Saturday nights.
